MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) — February is a big month for music in Mercer County, as two nonprofits host two established music acts.

This Friday at the Bluefield Arts Center, Cody Wickline takes the stage. Wickline hails from southern West Virginia and was a top finalist on NBC’s The Voice in 2015. Since then, he’s opened up to big names in the music industry.

“A lot of people have seen it on this show,” said Nicole Thompson, house manager with Granada and BARC.

“We’re really thrilled to have him. He’s a local guy who’s had success with music and since The Voice he’s opened for Jody Macina, Lynyrd Skynyrd and other big bands.

The Cody Wickline show is February 11 from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $15. Purchase at the door or in advance.

A few days later in Princeton at the Chuck Mathena Center, ‘Naturally 7’ takes the stage. The a capella group perform songs and make instrumental sounds using only their voices.

“You hear a flute coming out of their vocal cords,” said general manager Candace Wilson.

“They do it differently than others and better.”

The 7-man band has been performing together since the late 90s.

“We’re so excited for them to come back and they’re going to kick off a big European tour right after they get here, so it’s a big deal to have them here.”
