Royal Australian Navy Band performs at local college
On Monday, June 21, the Royal Australian Navy Band visited Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs to perform for their grade 7 students. They Navy Band played a range of music from jazz to rock. They also showcased the instruments that are now available in the College’s new instrumental music program, including flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion.
Caroline Springs Catholic Regional College is grateful for the support and encouragement the Royal Australian Navy Band has given its students as they launch a harmony program and instrument lessons for the very first time. Dr. Chris McGillen led the launch of this project as the new Head of Musical Performance at the College. He found that there were no such programs offered within a 15 km radius of the school, and firmly believed that it was important to provide this opportunity to local students.
The Marine Orchestra has not performed in our region for some time, so it was an exciting event and a milestone, not only for the College, but for the Western region!
