On Sunday September 5, 2021, REFORM will take over the historic and lively two-level Catch One site with a 4-room House + Techno program. Located on Pico Avenue near downtown Los Angeles, Catch One opened in 1973 and was the city’s oldest black gay dance bar. REFORM by Day will be presented by New York legend Danny Tenaglia, underground and acid maestro Josh Wink, enigmatic industrial techno figure Headless Horseman and experimental techno wizard Rrose. But the daytime programming doesn’t end there. Participants will also discover Lauren Flax, a Detroit native and longtime Brooklyn resident, who just released her album “Out of Reality”, as well as DJ Hyperactive and Truncate delivering an explosive and catchy techno performance.
REFORM has also teamed up with Moe Espinosa aka Drumcell, whose BL_K NOISE imprint will host a dedicated live stage with performances by Richard Devine, Baseck, Deru, Kindohm, as well as Moe himself alongside Surachai as Sentence. . The venue will also feature visuals from OKTAform, one of the world’s leading electronic music VJs.
To complete today’s lineup, REFORM has decided to focus on the burgeoning techno scene in Los Angeles, with sets from Annika Wolfe, Jelani, Jeniluv, Monsieur Frazier, Ønyx b2b Insical and Trovarsi (Live), several of which will perform in a dedicated discovery scene that aims to showcase artists who have done a great job here at home in LA.
REFORM is powered by the teams behind respected underground event curators 6AM Group, Synthetik Minds and Dirty Epic, so while today’s lineup is essentially a mini-festival on its own, REFORM’s roots will forever remain rooted in the underground. It is in this spirit that REFORM collaborates with DJ Mag for the official programming of REFORM by Night which will see the underground techno brain DVS1 organize all night in an undisclosed place, from the sound system to the programming. For the occasion, DVS1 invites Bernt and Lonefront (Live) from his hometown of Minneapolis to perform alongside him, as well as Lindsey Herbert from Los Angeles to open the dances.
