After missing his debut on what was supposed to be Keanu Day, The matrix: resurrections finally released a trailer that ultimately leaves us with more questions than answers.
With a band of Matrix codes we have become accustomed to and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candy) as the new Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne somewhere tight as hell), the trailer doesn’t offer much outside of voiceovers cryptically saying things like “Now is the time … for you to show us what’s real… now, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Is Candyman talking to Neo (Keanu Reeves) right now? The last time we saw Neo, the machines were taking his lifeless body to an unknown place, maybe they pushed his consciousness back into the matrix and now the new resistance is trying to wake him up.
Has the peace treaty between machines and humans been broken? Is this the reboot we talked about in the previous movie? Is Neo aware of his superhero past? We have no idea and we only see Neo for a few seconds and it’s full John wick with a fighting pose. So yes, we are fighting.
To accompany the trailer, Warner Bros. also unveiled an interactive website called Whatisthematrix.com which gives fans access to over 180,000 teaser videos. Of course, what you see depends on whether you click on the blue pill or the red pill. Pretty cool stuff.
Check out the trailer for The matrix: resurrections below and let us know if you’ll be showing up in theaters on December 22 when it releases.
