Meyhem Lauren & Daringer feature Conway on “Red Pesto”
Watch as Mayhem Lauren and Daringer present Conway The Machine on Red Pesto on the next Black Vladimir released on August 26.
Born and raised in Queens, NY, Meyhem Lauren has long been one of culture’s most trusted brands; built from quality, consistency and flavor. The multimedia artist and personality takes pride in expressing themselves artistically from a raw and unfettered perspective.
In addition to his musical contributions, Meyhem also gained international notoriety as a charismatic cast member of the hit television series. Damn it’s delicious; alongside longtime friends and frequent collaborators Action Bronson, Big Body Bes and The Alchemist. When not composing masterpieces, Meyhem Lauren also does vocal work, which has been heard in memorable commercials and campaigns for the FIFA World Cup and the NFL Super Bowl.
Meyhem has a long collaborative musical history, which includes previous projects with DJ Muggs, Harry Fraud, Buckwild, Madlib and now the just announced Black Vladimir album with Daringer. The album is also the first project for Meyhem’s new label, Black Truffle Enterprises.
For the better part of a decade, Daringer created a completely unique aesthetic and became an industry staple for his ability to transition from creating dark, gritty canvases to more melodic, jazz-infused productions. His production helped shape the ‘Griselda Sound’, and Daringer has been a vital cog in their movement from day one, and there’s rarely a drop of Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher or Conway The Machine where Daringer’s sound is not ubiquitous. The same can be said of his chemistry with Action Bronson, as Daringer added his flourishes to Blue fries, White Bronco, Only for dolphinsand Cocodrillo Turbo. Now Daringer takes the helm to oversee the production of another of his “Fu*k That’s Delicious” cohort Meyhem Lauren with Black Vladimir.
Meyhem and Daringer Black Vladimir will be released on 8/26/22 and is produced in its entirety by Daringer, and features guest appearances from Action Bronson, Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, Flee Lord, ELCamino and Hologram. The duo have now released the video for the project’s second single “Red Pesto”, featuring Conway The Machine, which is now available in all DSPs. The “Red Pesto” video was created exclusively by Complex.
“I went to Buffalo to pitch it with Griselda. It was a Halloween show and Westside Gunn brought me and Prodigy (Mobb Deep) as special guests. Then I was in Buffalo for a few days with Daringer, Conway and Westside Gunn making music. Wes saw the chemistry I had with Daringer and suggested we should do an album together,” Meyhem Lauren recalled. “The first three songs we did in Daringer’s house. All Griselda was there and it testified to the process, which is why you hear them doing ad-libs to songs they haven’t even heard. It was natural, fun, easy and it just flowed. Griselda is now a family brand; my cooking shows and other work prospered and grew. We had a little lull in between, but we really picked things up during the pandemic and now we’re finally here. »
Meyhem Lauren is also known for a series of unconventional, yet highly effective cooking videos that have created an online cooking and cult frenzy with her growing YouTube channel.
Meyhem’s latest cooking show, Flavor in your ear, consists of him cooking meals exclusively based on hip-hop song lyrics. This week’s episode Christmas in July, features Lauren making a full holiday assortment from Run-DMC’s festive anthem “Christmas In Hollis.” Previous episodes of the season include fare created around lyrics by Rick Ross, Notorious BIG, Beastie Boys and MF Doom. Upcoming episodes will feature dishes grown around the lyrics of G-Dep, Big Pun, and Dead Prez.
