14-time NBA All-Star, five-time Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, six-time NBA World Champion and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan will appear on both covers of the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and the ultra premium NBA 2K23 Championship Edition.
With Michael Jordan returning to the covers of NBA 2K23 this year, the game will also reintroduce The Jordan Challenge, which encourages players to recreate 15 iconic moments from Jordan’s illustrious career. The original ten challenges of NBA 2K11 have been completely rebuilt from the ground up and will return this year – alongside five new iconic Jordan moments – for a whole new generation of players to discover. These challenges take advantage of over a decade of technological advancements to deliver a whole new way to play through Jordan’s achievements – all housed in its very own game mode.
The Jordan Challenge also elevates an array of spellbinding performances from Jordan’s college, NBA, and United States basketball team careers that players can experience across the 15 challenges and includes video thumbnails features accompanied by special commentary from an array of NBA luminaries: Jordan’s teammates, opponents, and other sports personalities, who have seen him do it live and can bring his legacy to life for a younger generation of NBA fans.
2K today revealed details about the all-new MyCareer experience in NBA 2K23 on Next Gen which features the largest and most involved storyline in franchise history. The story kicks off after the NBA draft and challenges players to balance their performance in the NBA, while navigating their careers off the court through music, fashion and business. Among a rich cast of characters and cameos, MyCareer will feature Dreamville musicians Elite and Bas as they help players befriend J. Cole and capture the hearts and minds of The City.
J. Cole was also revealed as the cover star of the NBA 2K23 Dreamer Edition will be released this fall on PS 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Exclusively available at GameStop in the United States and Canada, the NBA 2K23 Dreamer Edition adds to J. Cole’s already notable accomplishments as a multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist and certified baller.

Phoenix Mercury’s two-time Kia WNBA Finals MVP, three-time WNBA champion, WNBA all-time leading scorer and five-time Olympic gold medalist Diana Taurasi, and Seattle Storm, thirteen-time WNBA four-time WNBA champion All-Star, WNBA all-time assists leader and five-time Olympic gold medalist Sue Bird will be on the cover of NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition.
Phoenix Suns shooting guard, three-time NBA All-Star and 2021-22 Kia All-NBA First Team selection Devin Booker is featured this year regular edition and cross-gen Digital Deluxe Edition.
NBA 2K23 will include MyTEAM Cross-Progression and a shared VC Wallet within the same console family (PS4 PS5, Xbox One Xbox Series X|S). MyTEAM Cross-Progression allows all MyTEAM points, tokens, cards and progress to be shared between the two versions of NBA 2K23 across generations of consoles from the same console family. Likewise, the shared VC Wallet means that any VC earned or purchased can be accessed across multiple generations of consoles within the same console family. There will be no cross-play between different platforms.
Thanks to backwards compatibility, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K23 will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, in the same family of consoles. However, if you are using a physical copy of NBA 2K23, PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S cannot read physical game discs. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K23 are only available on these consoles, as they take full advantage of the power, speed and technology of the new hardware and include additions and improvements only possible on these consoles.

Players who buy the luxury digital, Michael Jordan Where Championship Edition will receive both versions of NBA 2K23 on console generations of the same console family (PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S). So, using PS4 as an example, you will receive the PS4 version of NBA 2K23 and an accompanying digital copy of the PS5 version, which remains a separate product. For digital purchases from luxury digital, Michael Jordan Where Championship Editionthe accompanying digital copy will automatically be entitled to your platform account.
For physical purchases, a redemption code for the accompanying digital copy will be included in the game box along with the bonus digital content.
NBA 2K23 will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on September 9, 2022.
