Gifted hip-hop entertainer Wesley “ShowTime GMG” Wren continues to bring celebrities into nursing homes
Gifted hip-hop artist, GMG’s ShowTime (Wesley Wren) once again toured another retirement home in Illinois and brought platinum artist Twista with him.
Wesley works with Aperion Care Lakeshore in Chicago, IL, where he directs social activities in nursing homes. Musical performances with celebrities are Wesley’s unique method of motivating residents to participate in activities and bringing excitement and joy through music to seniors in these facilities.
“I feel like I have a responsibility to help those who can no longer completely help themselves. I’ve been blessed to be able to use my music career to bring joy to the elderly, and these celebrities help me by taking the time to support the events I host,” he said. Previous events have included celebrities like Twista, Yung Joc, King Louie, Lil Scrappy, Yung Dro, Leon Rogers, and more. Wesley has always had an innate capacity for musical creativity. “I have always loved music. I used to write the lyrics to my favorite songs in my notebook just so I could learn and recite them. I had the chance to try mine in a poetry class when I was about 10 years old. The project was to write a poem. I wrote a song.
Today, he’s become a gifted artist making waves across the country. His hit song, ‘We In This’ featuring Twista, Yung Joc and Gritz is his most commercially successful record. However, Wesley notes that his biggest achievement so far in his career is releasing his album Sho Frazier 2. major since 2015. It was my first album to chart (#74).
Wesley got his tenacity and resilience from his mother, who is his biggest inspiration. “My mother was the hardest working person I have ever known. So I got my work ethic from her. But musically, I signed to Twista’s label, GMG Entertainment, in 2010. Learning the ins and outs from someone who’s been around as long as him really showed me a lot.
When not in the studio creating melodies, Wesley dedicates his time to other projects, including writing short children’s books and creating his children’s YouTube channel for their content. He recently published his book, “I Want to Be: An Athlete,” and will be releasing another this year.
Wesley works with Aperion Care Lakeshore in Chicago, Illinois and has learned some very important lessons about people, especially seniors. “All ages, all races and all walks of life love music. If you can give people the music they love, they’ll always be fans. They will always be present at your activities and events. They will always be in a good mood around you. Music matters.
With his undeniable talent, enviable creativity, and tenacious work ethic, there’s no doubt that Wesley “ShowTime GMG” Wren will soon be at the pinnacle of global hip-hop music.
