G-Eazy and Demi Lovato team up for new single “Breakdown”
G-Eazy and Demi Lovato have teamed up for a new collaborative single, the raw and aptly titled “Breakdown”.
The track sees the two stars confronting their demons, with G-Eazy rapping about the pressure and scrutiny that comes with being in the spotlight.
It arrived with an accompanying music video, directed by frequent G-Eazy collaborator Daniel CZ. In it, the rapper and Lovato face the various media headlines they’ve made over the years, including Lovato’s drug overdose in 2018 and the arrest and assault charges against G-Eazy. the same year. âI have big plans, but none of them are like mine,â Lovato said on social media upon the song’s release, citing his lyrics.
“Thanks @G_Eazy for sharing this song with me.”
It comes just days after G-Eazy was arrested and charged with assault in New York City for allegedly hitting two men outside a hotel. The assault charges in the song, however, date back to 2018, when he hit a security guard outside a club in Stockholm. He was also charged with possession of drugs.
Earlier this month, the rapper announced that the long-awaited sequel to his 2014 album âThese Things Happenâ will arrive in late September. Entitled “These Things Happen Too”, it will include “Breakdown” and another new cut, “The Announcement.”
Elsewhere, a trailer for Lovato’s upcoming series âUnidentified With Demi Lovatoâ aired recently, in which they define themselves as a âUFO experimenterâ.
The four-part unscripted show will debut on the Peacock streaming platform on September 30.
