Four WCS Music Educators Recognized by the Country Music Association

Four WCS music teachers are honored by the Country Music Association (CMA) Foundation for their quality classroom teaching.
Elaina Gallas of Edmondson Elementary, Tiffany Turner of Brentwood Middle, Evan Burton of Page Middle and Michael Holland of Nolensville High are all 2022 CMA Foundation Music Excellence Teachers.
“Each of these teachers has a local, state, regional and national reputation for creating high-level programs of excellence,” said WCS Director of Fine Arts Mark Kinzer.
Only 30 music teachers across the country receive this honor. Excellence music teachers are selected based on their dedication to providing high quality music education to their students and their impact on the school community.
“Music education has been instrumental for thousands of years in providing students with opportunities to explore creativity and expression while developing social and emotional skills,” Kinzer said. “It provides places for students to learn to self-assess and make adjustments in their performance and creations. It’s a great place for students to learn problem-solving skills while expressing a variety of emotions and feelings.
Educators will be celebrated at the sixth annual Music Teachers of Excellence Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, October 19.
