Chance the Rapper spoke candidly about the leaked video of himself being scolded by Kanye West during an excerpt from an upcoming interview with The morning bustle. Asked about the incident, Chance explained that the video didn’t tell “the whole story”.

“It’s a clip from a bigger moment, like no one will ever get the full story of what’s going on,” he explained. “And yeah, people pick it up and run with it, because I’ve seen some people put, like, fake captions under the video to make it look like it was about my music or something. But in to be honest this is real life i have real friends and they are going through real problems.

The footage, which began circulating in January 2021, is believed to have been filmed during a donda documentary created by Dame Dash. The leaked clip shows part of the interview with Dash, who says he was down in Wyoming for a donda recording session.

Chance added that he went to meet Ye to check on his condition, “I came there to check on my friend. Me and many other people still have love for Ye. But he’s a human, he’s not perfect. He was visibly going through it at the time… It made me re-evaluate my friendship with him, that’s for sure. I had never been so close to him during an episode.

“…At the end of the day, I definitely like the guy. He’s my guy,” he continued. “It sucks that sometimes people can exploit a moment that’s a genuine moment.”

It’s hard to pinpoint what specifically caused the argument in the original clip and Chance didn’t go into those details with Morning rush.
