Legendary singer / writer, Lydia Lunch, upcoming on SOUNDS OF FILM by Tom Needham

LYDIA LUNCH: THE WAR IS NEVER OVER is a deep dive into the life and work of intrepid musician and performer Lydia Lynch who echoes the urgent, aggressive and unapologetic attitude that Lunch indulges in. The Lunch hit the downtown New York scene in the late 1970s with the group Teenage Jesus And The Jerks, a central pillar of the No Wave musical movement. Since then, she has forged paths in the underground film scene as a director, actress, speaker and women’s empowerment coach, feminist writer and spoken word performer. The film presents his electric work with archival footage, period photographs and interviews with Lunch and longtime collaborators and admirers. Always active in exposing patriarchy, sexual abuse, the cycle of violence and corporate greed, Lunch continues to tirelessly bring his passionate art to the stage – and now to the screen.

The film is screened at the IFC Center in New York from June 30 to July 6, 2021.

The Sounds of Film is the country’s oldest film and music-themed radio show. Over the past 30 years, the program has delivered a popular mix of interviews and music to listeners across Long Island, parts of Connecticut, and worldwide live streaming over the internet. Previous interviewees include Laurie Anderson, Dionne Warwick, Katrina vanden Heuvel of the Nation, EPMD, director Susan Lacy, William H. Macy, Connie Stevens, Jimmy Webb, Julie Andrews and Billy Joel.

Listeners around the world can listen to the Internet SOUNDS OF live stream Thursday at 6 p.m. EST on wusb.fm.
